I was left sleepless after this session, thinking about the 'tradition' - once so much a part of my life, but now it seems to have disowned me. The image of the Whalerider movie, and Paikea's challenge to tradition moved me a lot.
In the middle of the night, I realised that tradition itself is only formed by challenge and encounter. And it will only be re-formed by challenge and encounter. So though the 'tradition' does not know what to do with me, it needs me and futurechurch and others like me to be active in challenging and re-forming it.
